Rosenquist is one of the only pop artists to pick up the classical medium of etching. In his art he rejected traditional compositions. His etchings used disjointed billboard scale fragments, machines, consumer objects - this wasn't randomness but mirrored how people experienced modern media.
Its advertising, meets tv, meets politics, plus consumer culture are a psychological collage.
His etchings translated radical language of pop art into the refined historically traditional medium of print making.
